Cedar Hills United Church of Christ is currently searching for Associate Minister.
Cedar Hills United Church of Christ seeks a half-time minister to work with our full-time pastor and other program staff in serving and leading our church’s growing community and many ministries. We are seeking a ministerial generalist to:
Share in worship leadership and preaching
Share in pastoral care
Provide direction to selected ministries depending on interest and experience
Lead some administrative projects as time allows
We are hoping to find a candidate who will bring additional energy, insight and creativity to our blossoming community.
We are a proudly progressive congregation of the United Church of Christ, rooted in God’s love, mercy and justice. We open every service by saying “No matter who you are, or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.”
When asked, “Why do you love this church?” the first answer was “The people!” We are grandparents, middle-agers, single folks, couples, teens and toddlers, in every size, shape and color. Our community includes people who have been members for 40 days and some for 40 years. We celebrate our diversity in spiritual background, sexual orientation, race, and abilities.
Our church’s intellectual curiosity, paired with an eagerness to grow spiritually motivates our community as we search inward for God’s movement in our own lives, and serve our community outward through missions and projects. Some ways we serve include supporting a transitional home for women and families, providing weekend food and gifts in the holiday season to families in need at a nearby elementary school, and growing food in our church garden to feed the hungry.
Our physical space facilitates a variety of dynamic programming for all ages and stages. Whether it’s our nature-centric playgrounds, our harvest garden, our artistic-themed youth room, our rich library, our labyrinth, or our beautiful sanctuary, our facilities are used by hundreds every week to bring healing, insight and hope.
We have a vision to continue growing spiritually and serving our local and global community. In the next five years we have goals of supporting and growing our increasing populations of young families. We are driven to continue to take an active role in local social justice initiatives in Portland and Beaverton. We have dreams of our church facilitating neighborhood connections, and intentionally building authentic community. We will continue to seek out ways to intentionally grow and celebrate diversity within our church.
