"End-of-Life Series"

beautiful nature, hd wallpaper, nature background-7980844.jpg

We’re starting a new series that focuses on End of Life—what’s it like, what happens later, how can we help those who we will leave behind? A panel of CHUCC members with pastoral, medical, and personal support experience will talk about their own experience and answer questions. The series is helpful as we consider our own deaths or those who are friends or family. The first sessions are listed below.

May 21: What Is It Like at the Time of Death?

May 28: What Happens Spiritually and Culturally After Death?

June 2: How Do People Handle Grief?

The current events group uses non-fiction literature to explore moral and ethical issues that affect our daily lives.

Beginning May 19, 2023 we will begin a study of Antisemitism, exploring its Christian and secular (Marxist) roots, followed by an exploration of how it currently manifests itself in modern society.  We will be reading “Looking for an Enemy: 8 Essays on Antisemitism.”

Please contact Don Darby if you would like to be on the mailing list for the group.

~ Exploring the Bible ~

If you like the Bible background section of our regular worship, you will appreciate the Listen Up! study guides we use for 6-week explorations of books in the Bible.

We prepare ahead with short readings from the study guide and Bible, then share our personal understanding and the messages the Bible has for us and the church today.

Meetings are 90-minutes. It’s a good idea to join us at the beginning of a series.

~ God At Work - Men’s Group ~

The God At Work Men's Group was started to explore spirituality and meaning in our professional and personal lives.

We follow a book study format with a preference on contemporary works grounded in the Christian tradition. We also try out spiritual practices from our tradition such as mediation, Lectio Divina, Examen, and others.

We're open to new ideas and new members. If you are looking to learn more about incorporating spiritual practices into your daily life or if you are looking for deeper connections to people within the church, check us out.

Our weekly meditation group is focused on listening to guided meditation practices from various traditions, using recordings by well-known spiritual teachers.  Sessions last about 45 minutes and include relaxing music, guided practice, and silence.

We use this time to focus prayer concerns as well. No meditation experience is required and anyone may join at any time.
