Mission Committee
About the Mission Committee
The Mission Committee works to identify and support opportunities for CHUCC members, both individually and collectively, to act as God's body within our local community and beyond.
In addition to supporting the quarterly United Church of Christ Special Mission Offerings, we work to identify and engage with a diverse range of local, national and international non-profit organizations that serve and advocate for communities and populations in need... with particular emphasis on our identified priorities of Hunger, Housing, Community Services and Immigrant Justice.
Our Community
On behalf of the CHUCC congregation, the Mission Committee coordinates several group projects and partnership events throughout the year.
These initiatives provide financial, material, and hands-on support to a diverse range of local, national, and international organizations that address critical needs in areas such as hunger, housing, social justice, disaster relief, and other essential services.
Immigrant Justice
In partnership with other faith and social justice organization, members of our team work to identify opportunities where we can provide compassionate, practical support for our immigrant family members, including those facing concerns of family separation, detention, and/or deportation.
UCC Special Mission Offerings
Together with the national church, the CHUCC community celebrates these quarterly opportunities to collectively lift people closer to the abundance and wholeness to which Jesus Christ has called us to work together to bring about.
United Church of Christ Special Mission Offerings are dedicated to four areas where the church has identified critical human needs exist:
- Health and educational resources and/or where disaster has struck
- Systems of injustice which oppress daily life and opportunity
- Church leaders without sufficient resources to live with dignity
- Nurturing youth and congregations just beginning their lives of faith
