Pastor's Welcome
Hello!
And welcome to Cedar Hills United Church of Christ.
We are a proudly progressive, open and affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ, rooted in God's love, mercy and justice... where every service opens with the saying, "No matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here."
We celebrate our diversity in spiritual background, sexual orientation, race, age, and abilities. You will find, I hope, music that is inspiring, sermons that are relevant, and community that is genuinely welcoming.
We worship at 10:00 am on Sundays (both in-person, and via livestream on our YouTube channel). Afterwards, we join together for refreshments or enrichment activities. (For those attending virtually - we are also experimenting with an informal Zoom coffee hour.)
Special note for parents of infants and pre-schoolers: We offer supervised childcare during worship, provided by our trained Nursery Attendant, Jessica DeWet.
We share communion the first Sunday of each month. On these special Sundays, we keep an open table, as did Jesus, where everyone who seeks to celebrate God's presence is welcome. Our youth often help lead those monthly services.
On Communion Sundays, we hold Coffee Hour after worship. Depending on the calendar, we may just gather for coffee and refreshments - but we may also include a special congregational activity or event, such as our Easter Sunday Brunch or Advent Celebration. (And on non-Communion Sundays, we will often have Hospitality Time, a light version of Coffee Hour, hosted by CHUCC members.)
No matter the offering, it's a great opportunity to mix and mingle, experience community and get to know more about us.
On non-Communion Sundays, adults and children are invited to break into smaller groups for Education Hour. Adult offerings change monthly, with thought-provoking discussions and presentations to broaden your perspectives and deepen your spiritual connections.
For children and youth, we offer Sunday School/Godly Play and Youth Group activities, led by our Director of Faith Formation, Amy Norden. Our talented and caring team of Youth and Family Educators is ready to welcome your child.
And did I mention... The children love our nature-friendly playground. It's a fun and welcoming place for children and adults, where play dates with church friends are often scheduled. (And, we have lots of fantastic kids in this congregation!)
"No matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here." We offer a spiritual home at Cedar Hills United Church of Christ, where together we experience the divine, explore our faith, practice spirituality, discover inclusive community, and serve the world.
God Bless!
Mary Sue Evers
